To this end, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to help our associates fulfill their responsibilities at work and at home. This is only a summary of the benefits we offer. When someone joins the DFA team, they receive detailed information and eligibility, enrollment and other important information.
Benefit Basics
Medical Insurance
DFA provides its associates and their eligible dependents with two different options for medical insurance through United Healthcare. You do not need to choose a primary care physician for either plan. The Choice Plan is a network of providers that operates much like an HMO. There are no out of network services in this plan. The PPO Plan (Preferred Provider Plan) offers both an in and out of network benefits.
Dental and Vision Insurance
The dental plan is a PPO plan which allows you to use your own dentist or among thousands of United Health Care Dental dentists. You do not need to assign a dentist for yourself or your covered dependents in this dental plan. Orthodontia benefits are included in this plan.
The vision plan is administered through Spectera. You will be automatically enrolled in vision, if you are enrolled in the dental insurance. The vision benefit allows you and your covered spouse/dependents to receive an eye exam once every 12 months, lenses once every 12 months, and frames once every 24 months.
Life Insurance
Basic Life Insurance and AD&D in the amount of $10,000 is available and paid for by DFA.
Optional Life Insurance is available to purchase for the associate in increments of $10,000 up to a guarantee amount of $100,000. In addition there is optional spouse life insurance for half of what the associates elects, up to a guarantee amount of $30,000. Dependent children insurance is also available.
Disability Insurance
Short Term Disability is available to purchase and provides coverage of 60% of the associate's salary not to exceed $1500 per week. The coverage, if disabled, begins on the 8th day of a non-work related accident and on the 14th day of a non-work related illness and provides coverage for 26 weeks.
Long Term Disability is available to purchase and the company contributes 50% of the premium. This coverage is at 60% of the associate’s salary not to exceed $6,000 per month. This coverage is available, if disabled, after the 26 week waiting period and covers to age 65.
Supplementary Insurance
DFA offers Supplementary Accident, Cancer and Critical Illness Insurance which pay cash benefits directly to the associate, unless otherwise specified. They pay in addition to other coverage the associate may have to help fill some gaps left by deductibles, co-payments, limits, and other expenses. Accident insurance covers injuries on and off the job.
Retirement Savings Plan:
401(k)
DFA offers its associates a Retirement Savings Plan sponsored by Mass Mutual Retirement Savings in which the associate can defer money on a pre-tax basis. Additionally, DFA will contribute towards your account.
Other Benefits:
Tuition Reimbursement Program
The Tuition Reimbursement Program provides associates with financial assistance for college course(s), development program(s) or seminar(s) which assist with job performance or prepares the associate for advancement to a position of greater responsibility within DFA
Paid Time Off Benefits
Each calendar year DFA allows its eligible full-time and part-time exempt and non-exempt associates to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) benefits to be used during the calendar year (January 1st - December 31st). The Paid Time Off Benefits Program was designed to accommodate the needs of associates by combining paid time off benefits into one "bank of benefit hours." Associates may draw from this "bank of benefit hours" for absences due to vacation, illness, personal business, family care and needs which may require time off from work.

Associate Purchase Discounts
All associates are eligible to receive a discount on merchandise purchased at any of our DFA locations. DFA associates can make purchases at their "home" store or when traveling to other DFA store locations, providing they have completed the Associate Discount Form and obtain approval from their Manager/Supervisor.
Associate Referral Program
DFA believes that our associates are the best talent scouts for individuals who have the ability to become productive new associates. DFA wants to encourage and reward our associates for referring an applicant for employment.
